Rochester Quadrajet Carburetor Disassembly
Now we can start to disassemble. You may want to lay newspaper down on your workspace. It is VERY important to keep the area clean.
The first thing your going to want to do is remove the vacuum canister for the choke which is located on the passenger side of the carb.
Usually these canisters are held in with 2 to 3 torx headed screws. Next you must remove the cotter pins which hold in the accelerator pump activation rod in place. This is located on the drivers side of the carburetor and connects to the throttle linkage.
At this point you can flip the carb upside-down and removing all of the screws that you see facing you. Usually between 2 and 6 screws. Pull the throttle plate up toward you and the plate should come loose from the carburetor main body.
You should place any parts that are removed from the carburetor into your cleaning solution. Next flip the carburetor over and remove all of the screws that are facing you. Usually between 6 and 8 screws.
Take a careful look, some of the screws are hidden down into the opening of the carb near the choke plate.
