Purchase A Rochester Quadrajet Carburetor Rebuild Kit

If you find that your carburetor is beyone repair,  you can purchase a new or rebuilt one such as the  Jet Chips 35002 Carburetor Stage 2.

We will give you an overview of the rebuild process including: what to expect when you take the carburetor apart, the cleaning process, inspecting the carburetor and linkages, tuning and testing. 

It would also be beneficial to pick up the book "Rochester Carburetors".  It provides a lot of in depth information not found in this "General Overview." 

Generally a carburetor rebuild kit can be purchased at your local auto parts store.  The cost of the kit usually runs anywhere between $20.00 and $50.00.  Before running to the parts store just yet, you must provide the counter person with the part number of the carburetor. 

This part number will often times be located on the drivers side rear corner (facing the throttle/kick down cable).  It may take some time to find these numbers due to not only dirt and debris but also a congested engine compartment. 

The kit usually contains new seals and gaskets, new float, new needle and seat assembly, new pump-shot piston and check-ball.  Just one note about the new float. 

A metal float is desirable due to the fact that it is less susceptible to breaking or cracking along the seam as opposed to a plastic float.

You will be surprised when you open your carburetor!  Many people, including myself on my first rebuild, expect there to be zillions of moving parts and complicated springs and gadgets. 

That's just not true with the Rochester carburetor.  You will be lucky to find 5 or 6 moving parts inside!
